Gallery 6 opened it’s doors in July 2017, breathing new life into a former coach house located on Stodman Street in the beautiful historic town of Newark on Trent.
Newark on Trent is situated on the banks of the River Trent, and is a picturesque town steeped in history and buildings of interest. The gallery is a stone’s throw from the Newark Castle (infamous for the death of King John in 1216) and opposite the renowned Prince Rupert Public house, built in 1452, and a real historical gem forming a must-see stop on Newark’s Civil War Trail.
Gallery 6 consists of two large, bright and ever-changing exhibiting spaces spread over two floors and two intimate studios, used for exhibitions, artist seminars and artist workspace. We pride ourselves on sourcing local, national and international artists and displaying the highest quality art throughout the year from painters, sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers, glass designers, mixed media artists and more.
THE SECRET GARDEN ART CAFE
Accessed through the rear of the gallery is The Secret Garden Art Cafe, run by two artists who not only offer great coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas, but also Art Classes and Workshops in their first floor studio.
As the name suggests, there is a charming treed and quiet ‘secret garden’ for customers to sit outside during the summer months.
The Secret Garden Art Cafe is also involved with the annual Newark Book Festival and annually in July welcomes well known authors to promote their books. A poetry event also takes place during the same weekend.
