POP ART NEXT THE SEA

Internationally acclaimed and award winning abstract photographer Dr David Townshend FRPS has turned an iconic building and its surroundings along the north Norfolk coast into 21st century photographic ‘Pop Art’.

Pop Art challenged traditional art through images with bold colours, hard edges, distinct forms, repetition and iconic imagery. In this exhibition David has used a vivid colour palette and created strong two-dimensional graphic images combining iconic and mundane subjects to create a new and exciting vision of the harbour at Wells-Next-the-Sea.

In his images you will see colour, silhouettes, collages, shapes and textures which come from multi-coloured fish crates, neat stacks of lobster pots, the buoys and fenders, even the quayside concrete; and above all from the shapes, long legs and silhouettes of the dramatic and imposing gantry
