Robin is a full time artist working from a home studio in the beautiful market town of Hexham, Northumberland. He sculpts in mixed media, each piece being unique and individually hand built.
He predominantly uses a metal modified epoxy clay with a diverse variety of materials including: metal fillers, variegated silver and gold leaf and native hardwoods. Each sculpture starts as an armature (skeleton) which is then built over in layers, each layer enabling the execution of finer detail.
Much of Robin’s inspiration is attributed to a connection and respect with the rural environment. His subject matter reveals his love of nature and features birds and animals. He places emphasis on movement, expression, postures and mannerisms. The dynamic surface finishes add to his distinctive style.
Robin’s work is sold through several galleries in the UK and California, with commissions undertaken all over the world. His work has also been represented at exhibitions including: Manchester Art Fair, Affordable Art Fair Battersea, Affordable Art Fair Hampstead, Art Source Dublin, Fresh Art Fair Ascot, ICAF – International Community Arts Festival Rotterdam and Edinburgh Art Fair.
